Pecks Pond Kayak trip
« on: June 24, 2011, 09:55: PM »
Hadn't been to Pecks Pond for over 15 years.  Spent many days on the lake in my youth and early 20s.  My 2 largest Pennsylvania bass came from this place.  Since I bought my yak I always wanted to try it on Pecks.  It is definitely the best way to fish it anymore.  Though a front went through I still caught 8 bass and about a dozen pickeral.

Couldn't resist casting a senko to this tree

Was happily rewarded with this 19" largemouth which spun me around.

Garter snake swam across the lake

WoW, nice largemouth.   I haven't fished Peck's for awhile, it's a great place.  Did you happen to get any smallies?

Oh yeah, there are parts of the lake that are pretty much pickerel paradise, and parts that hold primarily large mouths, then other parts that hold very nice smallies.  The last time I was there I hooked into one and nearly lost my rod.  I'd say there are more of them closer to the old marina.  We posted a map showing hot spots for all 3 species on here awhile back.

A mention of a map with "Hot Spots" on it was made, but a search of "Pecks Pond" produces several "old" subjects, but no map.  Any idea where that map be listed?

I've got one if you want it I'll mail it to you for less that you can buy it and include the shipping. $7 take it home. It is one of the Kushuba maps that are available in most of the local B&T's in NEPA

Peck's Pond Hydrographic Lake Map
Hydrographic maps indicate water depth and structure such as rocks, strumps, marshes, islands, channels. All maps are from the latest survey and study.
There may be some areas marked as good for a particular species, but, this is a weedy and lily pad infested lake with a max depth of 8 to 10 feet most is considerably shallower.
I'd be glad to mail you the map.
